What happens to your insurance once you get married?
I am currently under my parents insurance (I am 21years old), both for car and health/dental. My fiancé has no insurance because his family cannot afford it. We are thinking about getting married this summer but want to figure out the details first before we committ to anything. I was wondering, once we get married what happens to my current insurance? Are we going to have to purchase our own insurance? And if so is there any marriage packages that would be pretty low budget? Thanks!

Why not continue to date if finances are a struggle?

You can stay on your parent’s health insurance until you are 26, provided you don’t have access to health insurance on your own, i.e., you have a job that offers you health insurance. Should you get married, your spouse can NOT come onto your parent’s plan. If you both wanted insurance and neither had a job that offers insurance, you can apply for an individual plan for you and your spouse.
